Quezon City

With a population of nearly 3 million, Quezon City is the most populous city in the Philippines. It was founded in 1939 and was named after the second President of the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon.

Quezon City is an economic and cultural hub, being home to some of the largest and most important malls, commercial centers, media companies, cyberparks, hospitals, historical sites, and universities in the country. The city hosts the two higher education institutions that consistently rank as the country's highest in world university rankings: the state-run University of the Philippines (particularly its Diliman campus) and the Ateneo de Manila University.

Ateneo De Manila University

The Ateneo de Manila University is a private higher education institute that was established in 1859 by the Society of Jesus, a Catholic order. This makes Ateneo one of the 10 oldest existing Universities in Asia. Ateneo's identity can be best understood through its motto, Lux in Domino, or "Light in the Lord." The call for its community is to be the light of the Lord in the world.

The campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City houses the Basic Education (K to 12) and Higher Education units. The Higher Education cluster consists of nine Schools offering undergraduate and graduate education. These are the:

  • Graduate School of Business

  • Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design

  • School of Government

  • School of Humanities

  • School of Law

  • John Gokongwei School of Management

  • School of Medicine and Public Health
